We've all pored over the then-and-now photos that appear from time to time in our local newspapers-who can resist the urge to compare them detail for detail?  So much changes in a century, yet it's gratifying to see just how much can remain the same.

Cindy McIntyre has collected postcards of many of Maine's cities, hamlets, harbors, lighthouses and more-as they appeared a century ago.  She has created then-and-now photo pairs by photographing the exact locations shown in the antique cards to see just how today's scenes compare with yesterday's.

She has included more than four dozen of these photo pairs, as well as a brief history of each photo, in her newest book entitled, A Century Apart, Maine Then & Now.  Order from Amazon.com

Prints of each town's pair are available for $15 each plus shipping.
